About the role
The Consulting Data Architect at WWT is responsible for designing M&O data platforms using batch, real-time, and event-driven architectures. They also create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for different modeling patterns and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data platforms using Apache Kafka, Neo4j, Splunk, Azure Event Hub, or similar technologies.
- Design and build streaming applications for data platforms using frameworks such as Kafka Streams, Spark, and Apache Flink.
- Understand and configure underlying data platforms according to the needs of the client.
- Architect and create data schemas according to best practices for data in motion.
- Work with various disciplines to integrate their tools and processes with data streaming platforms.
- Present the value of data streaming platforms to people with differing levels of technical knowledge.
- Document and diagram complex systems.
- Build tools, processes, and documentation to standardize the way we work.
- Provide thought leadership around the ever-changing landscape of IT Operations and data streaming technologies & architecture through blog posts and speaking opportunities.
Qualifications
- Experience architecting, prototyping, and building data platforms using Apache Kafka, Neo4j, Splunk, Azure Event Hub, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing and building streaming applications for data platforms using frameworks such as Kafka Streams, Spark, and Apache Flink.
- Experience understanding and configuring underlying data platforms according to the needs of the client.
- Experience architecting and creating data schemas according to best practices for data in motion.
- Experience working with various disciplines to integrate their tools and processes with data streaming platforms.
- Experience presenting to people with differing levels of technical knowledge the value of data streaming platforms.
- Experience documenting and diagramming complex systems.
- Experience with containerized applications and orchestration.
- Experience with at least one traditional data warehousing technology (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server) and/or modern platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience in one scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
- Experience in SQL scripting, tuning, indexing, partitioning, data access patterns, and scaling strategies.
- Experience with data integrations and data processing for IT Operations event management and analysis.
- Experience as a key player in developing an enterprise data warehouse.
Preferred
- Experience with no-code tooling such as Apache NiFi, Informatica, and AWS Glue.
- Experience with different Kafka offerings such as Confluent Kafka (Platform and Cloud), MSK, and Cloudera.
- Experience operating and managing Kafka clusters at scale.
- Experience with containerized applications and orchestration.
