About the Role

This opportunity is for penultimate-year students looking for a 6-month placement starting in January 2027. Our Consulting division offers a powerful combination of natural resources expertise and commercial consulting skills, partnering with clients to provide actionable recommendations as they navigate the challenges of the energy and materials transitions.

This co-op placement will help you gain an understanding of the commercial drivers in the energy sector and the major challenges facing the natural resources sectors, how these sectors interrelate, and what strategies companies are adopting to tackle these challenges. Co-ops will have the opportunity to work across our 5 key consulting sectors: upstream, downstream, gas & LNG, metals & mining, and power and renewables.

  • Develop your technical skills by immersing yourself in meaningful projects.
  • Build, analyze, and present datasets, as well as develop supporting tools.
  • Potential projects include:
    • Lifecycle carbon analysis of renewable technologies
    • Desktop research exploring Gas & LNG pipeline developments
    • Examine commodity market fundamentals (supply, demand, price) for base metals and battery raw materials
  • Collaborate closely with a global team of experienced analysts and consultants to understand how to approach industry challenges.
  • Gain insight into how different teams (Research, Data, Technology, Sales, Marketing, and more) collaborate to create and deliver value for clients.
  • Start building your professional network to kickstart your future career in consulting.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program related to one of the following degrees: Political Science, Economics, International Affairs, International Business, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Management.
  • Currently in education and looking for a co-op placement between January - June 2027.
  • Demonstrated history of leveraging data to solve problems.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to creatively problem-solve.
  • An analytical mind and eye for detail.
  • Great written and verbal communication.
  • Willingness to learn about our business from the ground up.
  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel in particular).
  • Ability to remain flexible and take initiative.
  • Innate sense of curiosity and interest in the challenges facing the natural resources sectors.

Wood Mackenzie follows a hybrid work structure; however, during this co-op placement, the successful candidate would highly benefit from being in the office frequently with the team and their line manager. Applicants must have the legal Right to Work in the country this role is based in. We are unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.

Pay

The salary for this position is $32/hour. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
