Consulting Actuary
About the role
Lead actuarial and multi-disciplinary consulting projects for insurance companies, self-insureds, program managers, and Insurtechs. Responsibilities include preparing and managing rate level indications, class plan analyses, competitive research, benchmarking analyses, rate/rule filing support, reserve analyses, self-insured retention analyses, funding studies, and product development.
Responsibilities
- Perform peer reviews of analyses completed by other consultants
- Organize and present competitive information in a meaningful format
- Prepare creative supporting exhibits for rate/rule filings, including explanatory language
- Prepare rate/rule interrogatory responses
- Recommend solutions and/or alternatives to clients
- Correspond directly with clients on project goals and results
- Prepare proposals for projects to meet clients’ needs
- Prepare polished, professional, clear reports to present results and information
- Stay informed on industry trends and changes in actuarial techniques
- Invoice clients
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience working as an actuary in the Property/Casualty industry
- Commercial lines experience and/or Workers' Compensation/Medical Malpractice preferred
- ACAS or FCAS credentials
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software and additional software as needed
- Ability to think creatively and imaginatively
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with deadlines
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage the work of actuarial consultants
- Ability to complete tasks with few conceptual, structural, technical, or cosmetic errors

Pay
$140,000 - $190,000 a year, including a merit-based bonus plan.
