Consulting Actuary

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated actuary to join our team. This role involves managing and growing a portfolio of client relationships, working closely with analysts and data scientists to scope and execute actuarial analyses rooted in machine learning. Key responsibilities include estimating and forecasting loyalty program liability, customer lifetime value (CLV), and other key drivers of program economics. The ideal candidate should thrive on being the connective tissue between technical analysis and client decision-making, and be comfortable working alongside AI.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage actuarial projects end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with client expectations
• Translate client's business problems into actuarial analyses, guiding the project plan and overseeing its execution
• Sanity-check predictive model outputs, understanding the underlying drivers and communicating them effectively to clients
• Synthesize complex modeling results into clear, compelling narratives for clients, including slide presentations and recommendations
• Present findings directly to clients, fielding questions and adjusting the presentation based on client feedback
• Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to develop solutions to open-ended, non-actuarial business problems
• Stay connected through regular team standups and maintain a steady cadence of communication with clients
• Contribute to improving client deliverables, contributing to internal tools, and helping define what a great client engagement looks like

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in an actuarial role, preferably with direct client-facing responsibility
• Bachelor’s degree in math, actuarial science, statistics, economics, or another quantitative field
• Background in actuarial science with a focus on P&C, at least Exam 5 passed
• Demonstrated experience owning client relationships end-to-end, setting expectations, managing scope, and delivering results on tight timelines
• Ability to connect technical modeling work to client business goals, understanding both the technical aspects and their business implications
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, with a keen eye for creating effective visualizations and presentations
• Experience with project management tools and data visualization software (e.g., Power BI)
• A solid understanding of predictive modeling fundamentals, sufficient to guide, question, and validate analyst and data scientist work
• Strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and little day-to-day guidance, enjoying the challenge of tackling novel problems
• AI Fluency: Comfortable and enthusiastic about using AI tools as part of the daily workflow
• Experience in loyalty, airline, hospitality, retail, or banking industries
• Experience in a small or startup-like consulting environment
