The National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP) is recruiting for two Research Fellow positions to work on a project for the research study on "Macroeconomic Modelling of Oil Price Shocks on Indian Economy" with NITI AAYOG. The position is initially for six months, renewal subject to performance and fund availability.

About the role

The successful candidates will contribute to the research study by analyzing macroeconomic impacts of oil price shocks on the Indian economy. They will work closely with a team of economists and policy analysts at NITI AAYOG.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of historical and current data related to oil prices and their impact on the Indian economy.
  • Develop and apply econometric models to forecast potential economic outcomes under different scenarios of oil price changes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and present findings to stakeholders including policymakers and researchers.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure consistency and accuracy in the research outputs.

Requirements

  • PhD in Economics or a related field with a strong background in econometrics and macroeconomics.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in macroeconomic modeling or related fields.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to handle complex data sets.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with government agencies and/or international organizations is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Economics or a related field with a strong background in econometrics and macroeconomics.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in macroeconomic modeling or related fields.
  • Experience with statistical software such as R, Python, or Stata.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of econometrics and time series analysis.
  • Experience with macroeconomic forecasting models.
  • Strong programming skills in R, Python, or Stata.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Pay
