CONSULTANT PHYSICIAN - DERMATOLOGY (PEDIATRICS) PART TIME

Location: John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital – Part-time (19 hours weekly), Department of Dermatology (Pediatrics)

About the Role

The Consultant Physician will work in the outpatient clinic for the Division of Dermatology, with additional responsibilities as an educator in the residency training program.

Responsibilities

• Serve as attending physician of record in the Dermatology Outpatient Clinic at Stroger Hospital and staff additional clinics as needed.
• Work-up, diagnose, consult, refer, and provide medical and procedural treatment for patients within the specialty.
• Act as an educator in the dermatology residency training program, including attending weekly grand rounds, journal clubs, and other didactic sessions.
• Conduct teaching sessions and scholarly activities as required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
• Participate in division on-call responsibilities on a rotating schedule.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited college or university (proof required at interview).
• Licensed as a Physician in the State of Illinois in good standing prior to employment (proof required at interview).
• Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited dermatology residency training program (proof required at interview).
• Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatric dermatology fellowship training program (proof required at interview).
• Must be cleared for privileges by Medical Staff Services by the start of employment.
• Board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Dermatology, with certification required within two years of employment.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, with certification required within two years of employment.
• Experience with comedone extraction, cutaneous grafts, simple and complex closures, excisions, skin biopsy, skin abscess treatment, suture removal, and preparation/interpretation of KOH, Tzanck prep, scabies prep, and hair prep.
• Familiarity with current third-party reimbursement coding.
• Experience in both medical and procedural dermatology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in laser surgery and dermatological surgery.
• Experience in subspecialty dermatological clinics, including Dermatopathology, Pediatric Dermatology, or MOHS surgery.

• Knowledge of modern principles, practices, and techniques of dermatology, including equipment, instruments, and materials used in procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse staff and patient populations.
• Ability to diagnose medical or surgical problems and prescribe appropriate treatment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Clear and concise oral and written expression.
• Ability to participate in educational programs relevant to the specialty.
