About the role

ECG, a national consulting firm specializing in healthcare, is seeking individuals with healthcare IT and EHR experience to support projects involving Epic and other EHR platforms. Consultants and senior consultants will apply their technical expertise to analyze workflows, identify opportunities for system optimization, evaluate product capabilities and roadmaps, and develop data-driven recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intermediate-to-advanced analyses with accuracy and strong data validation.
  • Develop and enhance analytical models, tools, and dashboards to inform client decision-making.
  • Translate analytical outputs into clear, compelling insights that support strategic recommendations.
  • Define project problems, key drivers, and analytical approaches with increasing autonomy.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and evaluate alternatives, identifying assumptions, risks, and implications.
  • Shape logical, evidence-based recommendations aligned with client objectives.
  • Independently own and manage work streams—including timelines, risks, dependencies, and deliverable quality.
  • Coordinate proactively with project managers and internal teams to resolve challenges.
  • Lead complex analyses, design advanced frameworks, and ensure analytical rigor across project teams.
  • Translate design decisions and project requirements into Epic configuration and build (e.g., templates, visit types, decision trees, SmartTools, order sets, navigators).
  • Perform hands-on build, testing, validation, and change management support through implementation, go-live, and post-live stabilization.
  • Lead major portions of projects, guide structured problem-solving, and provide oversight across multiple team members.
  • Present findings confidently to internal stakeholders and support client presentations.
  • Tailor communication style to technical and non-technical audiences; at the senior level, present complex analyses directly to client executives.
  • Engage with client stakeholders to gather information, validate assumptions, and present findings.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, preparedness, and credibility in all client interactions.
  • Identify risks, emerging opportunities, and meaningful implications for client strategy.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and informal mentorship to analysts and senior analysts.
  • Offer structured mentoring, oversee the quality of junior team members’ work, and share best practices across the team.

Qualifications

  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid consulting environment and travel as needed.
  • Prior experience working directly with Epic and maintaining current Epic certifications, including Ambulatory and Cadence, but other core applications will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of Epic clinical, access, and revenue cycle applications and integrated workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Epic change control, testing, and validation practices.
  • Consultant: Master’s degree preferred (business, healthcare administration, public health, analytics, economics, engineering, or related field); typically 2+ years of professional experience in consulting, healthcare operations, analytics, or related fields (additional experience required if no advanced degree).
  • Senior Consultant: Master’s degree in business or a health-related field preferred; typically 3+ years of experience in healthcare consulting, operations, or analytics (additional experience required without a master’s).
  • Proven ability to lead complex analyses, present findings to senior audiences, and mentor junior team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong judgment, and ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously.
