Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology
About the role
NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology with an Interest in General Medicine. This position is permanent and requires a UK driving licence.
Responsibilities
- Provide a Pan-Ayrshire service, including seeing a wide range of clinical presentations and contributing to both in-patient and out-patient care.
- Eliminate medical boarding and ensure high-quality patient-centered care for all inpatients.
- Involvement in the development of innovative training posts for doctors within the GP training programme and Clinical Development Fellows.
- Participation in the out-of-hours medical on-call rota (1:7 weekends and 1:21 nights).
- Engage in postgraduate education and participate in the active programme of postgraduate education.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be accredited in Diabetes & Endocrinology, fully registered with a Licence to Practice, and on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT or CESR at the time of interview.
Qualifications

Pay
The terms and conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004. The posts are offered on a 10 programmed activity basis initially (including 2 SPAs), but opportunities may exist for Extra Programmed Activities to be undertaken subject to service requirements and in accordance with national terms and conditions of service.
Schedule
The role is full-time with 40 hours per week.
