Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology
About the role
NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology with an Interest in General Medicine. This position is permanent and requires a UK driving licence.
Responsibilities
- Provide a Pan-Ayrshire service, including seeing a wide range of clinical presentations and working with specialist services.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality patient-centered care, including managing medical boarding.
- Contribute to the development of innovative training posts for doctors within the GP training programme and Clinical Development Fellows.
- Lead and train in expanding community-facing training posts that enhance collaboration between acute, community, and primary care services.
- Participate in the out-of-hours medical on-call rota, covering weekends and nights.
Requirements
- Accredited in Diabetes & Endocrinology.
- Registered with a Licence to Practice and on the Specialist Register, or within 6 months of obtaining a CCT or CESR.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a fully registered Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within 6 months of obtaining a CCT or CESR at the time of interview.

Pay
The terms and conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004. The posts are offered on a 10 programmed activity basis initially (including 2 SPAs), with opportunities for Extra Programmed Activities subject to service requirements.
Schedule
The role is 40 hours per week.
