Consultant, Healthcare Strategy & Finance - Managed Care
About the role
The Managed Care Contracting team assists provider clients—health systems, physician practices, accountable care organizations, and more—in the planning and execution of their critical managed care functions, including contract negotiation and modeling, rate benchmarking, and strategic planning.
The team seeks a data-driven, client service-focused candidate with a strong interest in provider contracting and contract negotiations.
Responsibilities
- Support ongoing contract negotiations on behalf of clients, including leading payer outreach and communications, follow-up efforts, transmitting and summarizing proposals and counterproposals, executing contract language review and redlining, and summarizing negotiated rates and terms
- Develop and refine financial models to evaluate reimbursement scenarios, contribute to rate benchmarking engagements, and support negotiations
- Attend, and occasionally lead, routine client meetings; document conversation points and takeaways; and identify and complete follow-up items
- Provide weekly internal updates to the management team about ongoing client engagements
- Prepare client deliverables, aligning with firm standards for content accuracy, structural clarity, and visual presentation
- Conduct market research initiatives, synthesizing findings into strategic briefs that inform internal project direction and enhance client-facing deliverables
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred fields: Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related)
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in the healthcare industry
- Experience in managed care contracting, revenue cycle, or healthcare consulting
- Proficiency in Excel and/or other analytics platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience negotiating (or supporting negotiations) contracts on behalf of payers or providers
- Experience working with large claims datasets, including pivot tables, lookups, and healthcare modeling logic

Pay
Illinois salary range: $76,700 – $102,300 USD. The salary for this role will be based on the individual’s experience, education, and skill set. Non-exempt/hourly positions are eligible for overtime pay.
