About the role

Launch your consulting career while helping shape sustainable infrastructure, energy solutions, and safer workplaces. ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to join our team in Hartford, CT or Boston, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and improvement of EHS management systems
  • Conduct EHS compliance audits and manage corrective actions
  • Perform risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses
  • Provide onsite EHS compliance support at client facilities
  • Develop and implement environmental programs (air, waste, stormwater, wastewater, and spill prevention)
  • Lead or support industrial hygiene and exposure assessments
  • Translate regulatory requirements into practical, scalable solutions
  • Manage multiple projects to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations
  • Collaborate with ERM’s global technical network to solve complex challenges
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships that support repeat business
  • Contribute to the growth of ERM’s EHS and Sustainable Operations practice
  • Design and direct corporate H&S strategies across diverse industries
  • Manage projects to meet scope, budget, and schedule while exceeding client expectations
  • Develop and deliver training
  • Participate in EHS audits
  • Build and nurture client relationships to drive repeat business and expand ERM’s market presence

Requirements

  • Required Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2 – 3+ years of EHS, regulatory compliance, or sustainability experience (industry or consulting)
  • Experience implementing or maintaining EHS management systems
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and data tracking tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Driver’s License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Local candidates preferred

Skills

  • Preferred Certifications such as CSP or CIH, or interest in pursuing them
  • Consulting experience and ability to build client relationships
  • Experience with corporate H&S strategy, safety culture, or serious injury/fatality prevention
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and regulatory programs

Pay

The anticipated annual base pay for this role is $75,646–$96,414 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range.

Schedule

This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
