Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Installs equipment, including but not limited to cameras, detectors, and controller cabinets.
- Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
- Installs pull boxes, conduit, poles, and foundations.
- Connects conductors to equipment to make the equipment work correctly.
- Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
- Tests devices to ensure they work correctly.
- Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Typically requires 0-2 years of general work experience.
- Successfully obtain and maintain a customer-approved Florida Statewide Law Enforcement Radio Systems (SLERS) security clearance throughout the term of their employment.
- Currently have and successfully maintain an active, valid driver’s license.
- A company vehicle may be provided for transportation to and from the work site.
- Basic computer and networking experience.
- Through knowledge of current desktop technologies and communications software, including Windows 2000, XP, serial communications and TCP/IP concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Must be able and willing to do shift work as well as be on call support during weekends, after work hours and/or holidays when required.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Class B CDL.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing CCTV and MVDS units and DMS signs.
- Component-level board repair experience.
- Industry Specific Certifications.
Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One year Certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- The position involves regular physical activity such as standing for extended periods, walking, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, up to 100 lbs frequently, and occasionally more than 100 lbs.
- Work may occur in varied environments including dusty, dirty, hot, wet, or confined spaces such as ditches or elevated areas.
- Vision requirements include depth perception, color recognition, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, electrical hazards, and traffic, with occasional work at heights.
- Noise levels are typically loud.
- Travel to job sites may be required, sometimes up to 100 miles or more from the home office, using a company vehicle.
- To minimize risk of injury from electrical shock, falls, or cuts, strict safety procedures must be followed.
