Construction Technician
Responsibilities
- Perform finish carpentry tasks, such as door installation and framing, drywall repair, tiling, carpeting, concrete pouring, cabinetry, layout, installation, repair, finishing, maintaining various structures, fixtures and buildings
- Basic concrete work and repair on sidewalks, curbs, driveways, and patios
- Perform pre-operational safety checks and equipment inspections
- Support facilities in light demolition, clearing, cleaning, and basic construction
- Conduct other construction tasks as assigned by leadership
- Operate a forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack, boom lift, work truck, and overhead crane
- Open, track and resolve electronic work tickets on SpaceX systems
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and document findings
- Use hand and measurement tools and manual equipment (saws, squares, shovels, etc.). Keep tools, materials and equipment in working condition
- Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair, and reassembly as required
- Advise in the selection of building materials; requisition building materials and supplies
- Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance
- Written and verbal communication skills, use of MS Outlook and Teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of construction experience and construction materials
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, welding, framing, and industrial gas trade systems
- Knowledge of basic math, engineering, and construction principles/methods
- Ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings/blueprints, and instructions
- Experience with carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet/countertop replacement, painting/texturing (interior and exterior) and door/hardware installation
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to generate service reports and communicate within the company including skills to navigate web-based service literature and programs
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Work hours depend on site priorities and may require overtime hours, weekends and holidays; flexibility required
- Periodic work in extreme outdoor environments: heat, cold, wind, rain
- Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
- Able to work at elevated heights (up to 150 feet), including the use of ladder
- Must have a valid CA driver’s license
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Pay range: Construction Technician/Level 1: $22.00 - $24.50/hour
Construction Technician/Level 2: $24.50 - $29.00/hour
Construction Technician/Level 3: $28.50 - $35.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
