Responsibilities

• Input data into pre-written computer programs
• Operate computers to run reports or calculations
• Interpret construction plans and specifications
• Observe construction operations on various sites to assess conformance to plans and specifications
• Perform construction materials testing
• Communicate effectively with staff, contractor personnel, and client representatives
• Participate in technical training sessions and achieve certifications associated with construction inspection, including renewing held certifications

Requirements

• 0+ years’ experience
• Interest in learning about federal, state, and local codes and ordinances, building codes, and construction materials (e.g., soil, concrete, rebar layout, masonry, steel) relevant to projects involving roadway/paving, pipelines, renovations, bridges, tunnels, drainage, and materials verification/design
• Ability to set up, track, file, and organize client emails and communications for project backup
• Reliable personal vehicle available for daily use to travel to job sites

Skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Well-organized with strong interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
• Able to walk up/down stairs
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
• Subject to outside environmental conditions

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required
• KDOT Inspection certification is a plus
• Additional experience in engineering, drafting, survey, and/or construction management is helpful
