About the role

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami is seeking a motivated and skilled Construction Task Leader to support home construction projects across Miami-Dade County. This role is central to the success of our mission, guiding and training volunteers on site, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring a high-quality build experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on construction work in all phases of home building, as directed by the Director or Assistant Director of Construction.
  • Prepare build sites each day by ensuring tools, materials, and safety equipment are in place.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on site to ensure work aligns with project plans, timelines, and local building codes.
  • Lead volunteers and partner families through safe and effective construction tasks, providing clear instructions and support.
  • Maintain job site cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Train, guide, and motivate volunteers on proper construction techniques and safe work practices.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are used properly and returned in good condition.
  • Secure and store materials at the end of each workday.
  • Support homeowner warranty repairs and service calls as assigned by the Warehouse or Service Call Manager.
  • Report safety concerns, tool needs, and project updates to construction leadership.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior hands-on construction experience is required, preferably in residential building.
  • Experience supervising or leading volunteers, teams, or work crews is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

Skills & Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to train and motivate individuals with varying skill levels.
  • Comfortable giving clear instructions, enforcing safety standards, and adapting to changing site conditions.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, mission-driven nonprofit environment.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends when needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. regularly, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, etc.).
  • Frequent walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling across build sites required.
  • Ability to transport tools and materials using carts, dollies, or similar equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout North and South Miami-Dade County.
