Reports to: SPP Construction Field Manager
Location: 7375 Graham Dr. Suite 200, Fairburn, GA 30213
Territory: Statewide (eleven distribution areas)
This position requires extensive travel and the use of a company vehicle.

About the role

This position promotes Safety Excellence in every activity and supervises three SPP Distribution Construction Coordinators who support overhead/underground construction, storm restoration, and overall distribution-area needs. Additional duties include contract administration, invoice auditing and approval, setting and maintaining GPC expectations with contract management, and relocating contract resources for storm and emergency response. The role works closely with Area Distribution Managers and Engineering Supervisors to ensure customer satisfaction, construction quality, and responsiveness to trouble events.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure and challenge the safety performance of all employees and contractors performing work on SPP.
  • Manage current and future contractor resources needed to construct and maintain GPC’s Distribution System.
  • Support supplier inclusion goals by mentoring and supporting small and diverse contract vendors.
  • Utilize performance management tools to improve employee performance.
  • Improve customer satisfaction by exceeding the expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Drive safety goals, increase contract personnel productivity, and enhance distribution system reliability through quality construction practices.
  • Provide timely and effective response to all storm restoration needs statewide.
  • Assist affected areas with contract crew allocation, coordinator assignments, and general SERP assistance during storm restoration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive line construction experience in Distribution, including overhead and underground.
  • Distribution operating experience required; supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
  • Extensive storm restoration experience required.
  • Experience managing contractors and contract administration preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Safety Excellence and alignment with company values: Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance, and Total Commitment.
  • Knowledge of Safe Work Practices, Distribution Bulletins, Distribution Specifications, NESC, NEC, and OSHA codes and regulations.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping, inventory management, and accounting practices.
  • Proven leadership, performance management, and cross-functional relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, internal teams, and external partners.
  • Ability to demonstrate being a Human Performance Champion.

Qualifications

If selected, the following requirements apply for use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle:

  • At least one year of verifiable driving experience as a licensed driver (permits not accepted).
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class of vehicle to be operated.
  • No revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application.
  • No convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Must consent to continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record.
