About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Low Voltage Construction Superintendent (CS) to join our team. The CS will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to our quality standards.

Position Qualifications

  • Experience managing or overseeing installation of low voltage building systems
  • Electrical / Low Voltage Systems experience – 3 to 7 years
  • Communications Systems Installation Supervision
  • Outside / Inside Plant Cabling Installation Supervision
  • Structured Cabling Systems Installation Supervision
  • Experience in security systems, audio-visual systems, and communication systems integration

Preferred Credentials & Certifications

  • PMP or BICSI - RTPM (Certified Technology Project Manager)
  • BICSI Certified Cable Installer (desirable)
  • RCDD – Registered Designer (desirable)
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or Business (preferred)
  • Professional accreditations including DBIA, LEED, etc. (preferred)

Essential Duties

  • Safety: Primary responsibility for job safety. Ensure safety is properly incorporated into job planning and execution; promote accountability among staff and subcontractors; enforce policies by actively participating in all safety-related functions.
  • Quality: Responsible for all quality control on the project, both Company and subcontractors. Report any repetitive quality problems with subcontractors or vendors to upper management.
  • Job Planning: Development and implementation of the pre-job plan. Make course corrections as required. Create material handling and site utilization plans.
  • Scheduling: Participate in project scheduling to ensure it is "their schedule" and complies with job planning.
  • Mobilization: Complete specific tasks as assigned in pre-job planning sessions.
  • Coordinate and supervise all Company work forces on the project including employment of laborers and craft persons. Authority to hire and fire all hourly paid personnel under direct supervision. Indoctrinate Foremen and hold them accountable.
  • Develop Assistant Superintendents, Coordinators, Engineers, Foremen and craft persons.
  • Personnel evaluation, development, and retention. Consulted in assignment of salaried staff. Define expectations, provide feedback, and evaluate salaried personnel under direction. Recommend promotion, transfers, or termination according to project needs and evaluations.
  • Coordinate and schedule all subcontractors – Hold weekly scheduling meetings with all subcontractors' Foremen.
  • Develop forms detailing and special construction methods for job efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate time keeping and cost records. Study labor recaps and cost controls to determine areas needing special attention and initiate changes to bring costs back into budget.
  • Expedite vendors and subcontractors on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Material Receiving: Ensure material received is properly inspected for quantity and quality, receiving tickets properly signed and coded and submitted.
  • Equipment: Review equipment needs with supervisor.
  • Owner Relations: Participate in Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings. Along with the Project Manager, ensure Owner and Owner's Representatives are aware of schedule changes, potential conflicts, etc. Be sensitive to special requirements of customers or neighbors.
  • Maintain Project Logs.

Physical Work Classification & Demands

  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. Frequency varies by workflow and field activity.
  • Frequently move about the jobsite.
  • Sometimes operate a computer or tablet and other office machinery, such as a calculator and phone.
  • Frequently communicate with employees and external stakeholders regarding office and field administration.
  • Constantly read written communications and view mail submissions. Read blueprints and take/verify field measurements.
  • Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights.
  • Balancing – Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch.
  • Stooping – Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist.
  • Reaching – Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time.
  • Grasping – Applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly.
  • Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
  • Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures. Frequently exposed to noisy environment and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
