We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Contractor Construction Superintendent to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least five years of experience in the commercial construction industry, overseeing all aspects of ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • OSHA 30 certification within the last 5 years or ability to renew
  • Proficiency in project reporting software, MS Office, and blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented approach
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various job sites (up to 75%)

Responsibilities

  • Enforce safety compliance (OSHA and Marand safety plan and policies) and advocate for safety as the top priority
  • Supervise the construction effort in the field to ensure the project is completed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and customer objectives
  • Conduct weekly on-site meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and others regarding schedule, safety issues, and performance
  • Enforce compliance with all project procedures, safety program requirements, and work rules
  • Supervise and ensure the health and safety of workers by enforcing all company, state, and federal guidelines
  • Prepare and distribute field reports in a timely manner (e.g., daily superintendent’s reports, safety reports)
  • Complete punch list items within the customer’s requirements and project budget using Procore for punch list management
  • Monitor and direct subcontractor progress and ensure adequate manpower to meet project schedules and customer expectations
  • Prepare subcontractor work schedules and provide input to the Project Manager for project construction schedules
  • Verify all layouts and/or check layouts by subcontractors and establish initial control lines and grades
  • Respond to subcontractor questions regarding project documents and coordinate documentation with the Construction Manager
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, including logistics, means and methods, bid and scope reviews, and project estimates
  • Maintain an up-to-date set of contract documents on site
  • Ensure subcontractors maintain record drawings (“red line as-builts”) during construction
  • Responsible for organizing, establishing, and maintaining the on-site field office to project a professional image
  • Communicate timely with the Construction Manager on financial issues, safety, construction progress, labor issues, material problems, quality, code issues, etc.
  • Interface and work harmoniously with Project Managers and other personnel
  • Manage, oversee, provide training, and act as a mentor to other Superintendent levels
  • Continue education in areas including OSHA and safety, means and methods, codes, management skills, and new technology
  • Maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification
  • Maintain current knowledge of the permit process in project communities and communicate changes to the office
  • Ensure overall cleanliness of the jobsite to Marand’s standards

Physical Demands

  • Work at a construction site with duties performed both indoors and outdoors
  • Extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines
  • Ability to work night shifts
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate company iPad, phone, and other business machines
  • Regularly required to sit (20%), walk (40%), and stand (40%)
  • Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job
  • Ability to talk and hear
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction

Work Environment

  • Indoors in a variety of settings, including offices, interior building job sites, and outdoor job sites
  • Exposure to wet/humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and heat
  • Potential exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, and vibration
  • Occasionally loud noise levels
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, vest) and safety gear (appropriate clothing, shoes, gloves)
