Construction Specialist

Location: Portland, ME

Pay Rate: $38-$43/hr

About the role

Will be completing construction quality audits in the field 80% of the time, 20% office PC work. The Construction Specialist supports the construction team responsible for expanding services in areas that are not yet customers. Responsibilities include tracking project progress, reviewing and approving contractor invoices, communicating with vendors for proper documentation into the tracking system (P2), and adhering to project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the execution of overhead/underground construction duties such as placing hard-line cables, framing and strand poles, transferring facilities between poles, placing cable in joint trench, and safe operation of construction vehicles and cable trailers.
• Investigates and monitors accurate record keeping concerning project start, milestone dates, production logs, material costs, and labor expenditures.
• Instructs work site safety standards; conducts work site visits to ensure compliance with safety standards and participates in regular safety meetings with the crew.
• Supports Specialists and leadership team with coordination of projects.
• Generates logs and reports on construction, projects, materials, and expenditures.
• Reviews, resolves, and follows up on customer requests and complaints.
• Monitors the performance of the construction crew to establish goals and objectives.
• Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of business support, technical, or production staff performing tasks in the same function; sets priorities for the team, assigns tasks, and checks work at regular intervals.
• Ensures all work performed on the project meets or exceeds Comcast, Local, State, or Federal standards and regulations.
• Primary responsibilities include:
  • Updating the JT or Polaris entry (job docs/maps) QC for path verification.
  • Serving as the primary contractor interface day-to-day in the field and acting as the NGAN liaison with Regional Network Technicians.
  • Ensuring new or upgraded power supply is in place and operational (in continuity) before the cut date.
  • Overseeing the quality of the NGAN product: Next Generation Access Network (NGAN).
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.
