Primary Accountabilities
- Evaluate complex field tasks
- Apply construction knowledge to anticipate and address hazards associated with given tasks
- Synthesize knowledge, experience, and lessons learned to provide actionable guidance
- Execute and develop training at a “Competent Person” level
- Obtain and maintain certifications to develop and broaden knowledge base in 3 – 5 regulatory areas
- Develop and customize training content utilizing company policies, procedures, and regulations
- Anticipate hazards and identify hazard mitigation solutions
- Review plans, 3-week schedule, and PRP (Project Risk Profile) to identify hazards throughout project lifecycle
- Review subcontractor contracts to identify trade responsibility
- Assist in creation and/or review completed PRP
- Review and provide SafetyNet data, discuss incidents/near misses, and strategize with project team to address safety needs for 45-day lookahead for MPR
- Perform incident investigation and assist with root cause analysis as directed by the Senior Safety Manager
- Cookordination injury management program as directed by the Senior Safety Manager
- Provide interpretation to policy and regulation inquiries
- Provide consultation based on depth of understanding company policies and procedures and applicable regulations
- Understand Cal/OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations
- Familiar with other relevant standards (NFPA, ANSI, ASME, etc.) and knowledge of outside resources
- Collaborate with project team and Senior Safety Manager to report/escalate open issues
- Apply best practices with understanding of interconnectivity between policy and actual work
About YOU
- Education/Training
- Active Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) required
- Safety-related degree or equivalent related experience
- FA/CPR instructor
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Possess in-depth expertise in 3+ areas; capable to be a trainer of trainers
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety orders and general industry safety orders
- Training and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate to broad audience
- Experienced trainer in construction safety
- Outreach trainer for construction
- Competencies in fall protection, excavation safety, confined space entry, scaffolding
- Work Experience
- 5+ years of safety-related experience is typical
- 5+ years of vertical, tunnel, or heavy civil construction experience
