About the role

Monitor construction projects for clients with direct accountability for project delivery on data center projects. Join our teams onsite in the Abilene, Haskell, Vernon, or Wichita Falls, TX areas. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely monitor the General Contractor’s (GC) Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance to ensure compliance with stated practices, procedures, regulatory requirements, and owner expectations/deliverables outlined in the contract.
  • Interface with the construction management team by delivering current data on GC EHS performance, including trending, incident management, EHS metrics, and other key information to enable informed and timely decisions.
  • Participate in communication methods such as safety meetings and notices to ensure relevant EHS information is shared across the site by GCs and included for data center management.
  • Conduct daily walkabouts/safety tours with GC management, their representative, and the owner’s representative (Project Manager or delegate), with a target of weekly walkabouts/inspections by PM management.
  • Participate in daily site tours with the GC safety representative.
  • Act as a coach and advisor to the safety committee.
  • Support the business in conducting risk and hazard assessments.
  • Participate in Significant Incident investigations and Significant Potential Event (SPE) reviews.
  • Immediately address non-compliance by a GC or their subcontractors, ensuring the owner’s management representative/Project Manager is informed.
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), leading and lagging indicators, and EHS data submitted by the GC are accurate, timely, and complete.
  • Conduct monthly GC EHS evaluations.
  • Issue weekly EHS summaries.
  • Oversee execution of the Boots on the Ground program.
  • Participate in progress and schedule meetings where EHS is impacted.
  • Assist in design reviews throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, design, permitting, construction, commissioning (Cx), and handover to operations.
  • Support the development of the Data Center Construction EHS Plan (DCCEHSP).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of construction safety representative experience.
  • Experience in data center or mission-critical fields is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience supporting safety programs/initiatives and overseeing general contractor and subcontractor compliance with safety codes and procedures.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge of MS Project, leases, contracts, and construction practices.
  • Familiarity with construction best practices, general building codes, and various building types and systems.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Preferred: Ground-up construction experience, including MEP, heavy equipment, environmental, and electrical safety (aligned with NFPA 70E, NEC, etc.).
