Responsibilities
- Conduct site safety inspections and hazard assessments; document findings and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Enforce site safety rules, including working at heights, PPE requirements, and safe work permits (hot work, confined space, LOTO, elevated work).
- Provide toolbox talks, safety orientations for new hires and visitors, and specialized briefings as needed.
- Responsible for safety training across the service team, including job site practices, vehicle operation, and transportation safety.
- Assist with incident and near-miss investigations; collect evidence, interview witnesses, and support root-cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
- Maintain safety logs, inspection records, training records, permit documentation, and near-miss/incident reports.
- Support emergency response activities and participate in drills; provide first aid/CPR as needed.
- Measure and report key safety metrics; escalate trends and high-risk issues to supervisor.
- Support safety audits and regulatory inspections; ensure corrective action closure.
- Participate in safety meetings and help promote a positive safety culture among crews.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of field safety experience in construction, industrial, or similar environments preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and site safety best practices. Emphasis on LOTO, working from heights, and JSAs.
- Working knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 and familiarity with 29 CFR 1910 (construction and general industry safety standards).
- Experience conducting inspections, completing reports, and delivering safety training.
- Strong observational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather and interact effectively with trades and subcontractors.
- Proficient with mobile devices and basic Microsoft Office; experience with EHS software preferred.
- Travel up to 50%.
- Ideal Certifications: Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or working toward BCSP certification. OSHA 30-hour card (within the last 5 years). CPR and First Aid certification.
- Additional Experience a Plus: OSHA 500 and 501. OSHA 10- and 30-hour Trainer. First Aid/CPR Trainer.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, climb ladders/scaffolding, and access elevated or rough terrain.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and perform repetitive movements as needed.
- Visual acuity for inspections and reading documents.
