Construction Project Scheduler

About the role

MacDonald-Bedford LLC is seeking experienced Schedulers to support a variety of large-scale infrastructure, renovation, and federal construction projects. These roles can be field-based or hybrid with assignments on government and institutional projects, including major construction (MILCON or large facility projects) and sustainment, restoration, and modernization (SRM or repair/renovation projects).

Requirements

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Provide construction management services (CMS) for pre-construction award functions, quality assurance and contract administration.
    • Be the subject matter expert in the projects or program's scheduling efforts.
    • Review construction contractor's schedules, equipment delivery plans and progress to date; perform monthly projections of Construction Work in Place (WIP); enter these projections in the Construction Management System (as it becomes available) and other databases when requested.
    • Schedule analysis in support of potential construction contractor delay claims.
    • Analyze the schedule for reasonableness in activity durations, sequencing, and logic. Evaluate the activities included in the schedule for adequacy and appropriateness and recommend additions or deletions of activities.
    • Make timely recommendations for corrective action to project team when project goes off schedule.
    • Take the initiative to coordinate with the team members, leadership and project stakeholders; notify and/or advise the client of any potential conflicts or delays caused by active projects that could impact the award and delivery times of future projects.
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • A Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management or Engineering from an accredited university.
    • Five (5) years of on-site construction or project management, project controls, quality assurance, contract administration and construction means and methods experience OR five (5) years of working knowledge of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers policies, procedures, processes, and regulations ideally supporting federal, institutional, or large infrastructure projects.
    • Familiarity of government construction protocols, including RMS documentation, three-phase inspection process, and QA/QC procedures.
    • Substitution for a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering will be considered as follows: a two (2) year or four (4) year degree in business or a technical field supplemented with at least two (2) years of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers experience in construction management; or a graduate or post-graduate degree in business or a technical field.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in the review of resource loaded construction schedules, supporting cost and schedule contract changes, review of construction invoices and providing the resulting reports that present observations, critical findings, opinions, concerns and recommendations.
  • Proficient in the use of Primavera 6 scheduling software and its use in creating baseline construction schedules, tracking construction progress updates, and in performing schedule time impact analysis for changes.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management or Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Experience with cost estimation, change order evaluation, and progress payment review are a plus.
  • Citizenship of the United States
