As a trusted national architecture/engineering/construction consulting firm, Marx Okubo works with real estate owners, investors and lenders—at every point of the property lifecycle—to evaluate their building projects, solve complex challenges and implement tailored solutions. This is a hybrid role, with 2 days in one of our offices in Southern California - Huntington Beach or Santa Ana, and conduct site visits and project meetings as needed for the remainder of the week.
Essential Functions
- Act in an owner's representative capacity as a trusted advocate for our clients through all phases of large scale commercial construction projects
- Review all related documents for constructability, scope, and opportunities for value engineering
- Evaluate and process contractor bids, pay applications, change orders, and contingency usage for GMP contracts
- Manage and track complex, detailed budgets and provide financial reporting to clients
- Identify and mitigate risks
- Lead OAC meetings
- Oversee projects via regular site visits (Local and regional travel required)
- Ensure deadlines are met and any delay claims are analyzed and resolved
- Create detailed, executive level reports and present information in any format
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Certification in Construction Management
- Ten (10) or more years in construction management related roles, at least five of which on large scale commercial projects with a GC or OR firm
- Deep understanding of construction delivery methods and building codes
- Exceptional conflict resolution and communication skills
- Strategic thinking capabilities including the ability to identify trends, anticipate issues and achieve business goals
- Comfort in working autonomously and being an ambassador for the firm
- Honesty, reliability, and accountability
- Willingness to travel up to 50%

Physical Requirements
- Move through construction and existing building sites over rough terrain
- See and respond to dangerous situations
- Respond quickly to sounds
- Ascend and descend ladders and stairs
- Move safely through confined spaces and narrow paths
- Work in outdoor weather conditions or unconditioned areas
- Operate a computer and other related office equipment, and possess visual acuity to read information from printed sources and computer screens
- Lift up to 40 pounds (ladders)
- Travel approximately 50% of the time both in and out of state

Pay
Expected starting annual salary of $160,000 - $175,000.
