Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, oversee, and coordinate all facets of assigned construction projects, including pre-construction, bid and award, construction, and close-out phases.
  • Review and provide feedback on pre-construction documents to ensure alignment with LAUSD standards.
  • Maintain project status and progress, reporting to senior management.
  • Collaborate with relevant public agencies and district staff to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for off-site work.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting.
  • Supervise contractors’ daily activities, review construction schedules, and coordinate responses to contractor inquiries.
  • Evaluate contractor substitution submittals for compliance with project specifications and district requirements.
  • Review, negotiate, and process Contractor Change Order Proposals to achieve fair and reasonable pricing.
  • Oversee contractor, architect, and engineer payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Administer provisions of Professional Service Agreements between architects and LAUSD.
  • Coordinate the delivery of district-related fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Manage project closeout processes, ensuring final certification with the Division of State Architects (DSA) and financial reconciliation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by project leadership.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of full-time paid professional experience in construction and/or project and construction management for commercial or public/educational facility construction.
  • At least 3 years of experience coordinating complex projects valued at over $10 million.
  • Experience with Design-Build projects (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) (preferred).
  • Familiarity with LEED-certified projects and Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS) (preferred).
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) design/construction processes (preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA Safety Regulations (OSHA 30 minimum certification required).
