Construction Project Manager (Northbrook, IL)

About the role

The Construction Project Manager plans, coordinates, manages, field-inspects, and budgets for activities connected with the construction and maintenance of current and future medical distribution centers, offices, and corporate facilities. This role reports to a Director and involves comprehensive project oversight from conceptual development through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the full scope of new build and remodel construction projects for distribution centers and offices, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
• Create, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules, breaking down tasks to coordinate contractors and operations.
• Schedule, manage, and conduct regular project meetings with key stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise communication across teams.
• Manage communication between team members, resolve conflicts, and cultivate internal and external relationships with architects, developers, and contractors.
• Bid all new, refresh, and renovation projects; define scope, direct design, obtain permits, and manage construction coordination.
• Ensure construction activities are completed safely, on budget, within schedule, and without operational impact; validate and process invoices.
• Track costs against approved project budgets and monitor market pricing to leverage national buying power.
• Identify and prequalify new vendors; evaluate existing vendors to ensure service levels meet expectations.
• Lead coordination of vendors (rack, low voltage, furniture, etc.) to ensure successful project startup and operational optimization.
• Assess building assets, conduct audits to review quality of systems and components, and manage action items for optimization.
• Participate in implementing standardized programs to maintain high-quality project outcomes and enhance existing protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering.
• 4+ years of construction project management experience.
• Experience applying knowledge of blueprints, specifications, contract documents, permitting, shop drawings, submittals, and cost reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for a general contractor in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple stakeholders.
• Experience with a wide range of projects, including new and existing distribution centers and office projects.
