About the role
The Construction Project Manager directs all operations for assigned construction and reconstruction projects, including those following fire, water, storm, and other property loss events. Serving as the single point of contact for customers, insurance carriers, subcontractors, and stakeholders, the Construction Project Manager is fully accountable for project execution from initial scope development through final walk-through and customer sign-off.
Responsibilities
- Review loss and project details, including type of loss, occupancy, and square footage affected, to begin mobilizing resources.
- Conduct thorough walk-throughs of project sites, assessing safety, business interruption needs, and stabilization requirements.
- Develop full scopes of work and project timelines for residential and commercial construction and reconstruction projects.
- Prepare complete and organized scopes of work using Xactimate or comparable estimating software.
- Analyze material, labor, permitting, and equipment requirements for each project.
- Negotiate scope and estimate approval with customers, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders.
- Execute change orders and manage scope adjustments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Schedule and coordinate all subcontractors, trade partners, and material suppliers.
- Ensure all work complies with plans, specifications, local building codes, and scope requirements.
- Conduct pre-construction meetings with customers and provide ongoing daily project updates.
- Perform daily site inspections to validate schedule, progress, and quality standards.
- Define and assign daily work orders for all personnel on site.
- Ensure subcontractors complete all work in accordance with their purchase orders and scopes.
- Verify material deliveries match purchase orders exactly.
- Coordinate inspections with local jurisdictions and permitting authorities as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, clients, and insurance adjusters throughout the project.
- Manage and elevate customer satisfaction at every stage of the project.
- Provide daily project narrative updates to customers and insurance clients as needed.
- Address customer needs daily as the project progresses and resolve issues proactively.
- Conduct final walk-throughs with customers and secure signed Certificates of Completion and Satisfaction.
- Compile, manage, and resolve punch list items through to project completion.
- Review project budgets and job costing to maximize profit margins on every project.
- Mentor and provide direction to assistant project managers, superintendents, and field staff as assigned.
- Partner with the safety team to ensure jobsite compliance with OSHA and all applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction, reconstruction, or general contracting required.
- Commercial and residential construction experience required.
- Insurance claims and adjusting experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Xactimate required.
- Strong knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, and building codes.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel to jobsites.
- Must be able to work in person and travel as needed. This role requires flexibility, on-call availability, and additional hours to meet business demands.
- Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States and able to successfully complete a background check subject to applicable law.
Physical Demands
- Combination of office-based and jobsite work.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
- Walking, standing, bending, and reaching at jobsites; occasionally climbing ladders and stairs.
- Frequent driving to and between jobsites and office locations.
- Lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds; occasionally more with assistance.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when on jobsites.
- Occasional exposure to jobsite conditions such as heat, cold, dust, moisture, and noise.
- Close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Physical stamina to move between sites and remain active throughout the day.
Pay
$70K - $80K, pending experience.
