Construction Project Manager I - Project Design & Construction

About the role

Pima County's Project Design & Construction Department seeks a Construction Project Manager I to oversee a variety of construction projects impacting the community. Key responsibilities include managing contracts, defining project scopes, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring projects stay within budget.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages complex capital projects
• Defines project scope and contract deliverables
• Maintains project requirements and budgets
• Monitors consultant and contractor performance
• Tracks project costs and expenses
• Ensures project compatibility with existing standards
• Performs cost/benefit analyses and escalates issues
• Evaluates contractor performance and assists in redesigning projects

Requirements

• Four years of supervisory, management, or project management experience in construction
• One year of experience evaluating contractor performance
• Four-year degree in engineering or related field (substitutes for three years of general experience)
• Two years of experience with Pima County as Public Works Supervisor or Crew Supervisor
• Minimum five years of construction management experience
• Minimum three years of public sector project delivery experience
• Experience with commercial construction in various systems
• Valid driver’s license and AZ driver’s license

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a design or construction field (substitutes for two years of general experience)
• Three years of relevant experience (may be concurrent with general experience)
