About the role
Pima County's Project Design & Construction Department seeks a Construction Project Manager I to oversee a variety of construction projects impacting the community. Key responsibilities include managing contracts, defining project scopes, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring projects stay within budget.
Responsibilities
- Develops and manages complex capital projects
- Defines project scope and contract deliverables
- Maintains project requirements and budgets
- Monitors consultant and contractor performance
- Tracks project costs and expenses
- Ensures project compatibility with existing standards
- Performs cost/benefit analyses and escalates issues
- Evaluates contractor performance and assists in redesigning projects
Requirements
- Four years of supervisory, management, or project management experience in construction
- One year of experience evaluating contractor performance
- Four-year degree in engineering or related field (substitutes for three years of general experience)
- Two years of experience with Pima County as Public Works Supervisor or Crew Supervisor
- Minimum five years of construction management experience
- Minimum three years of public sector project delivery experience
- Experience with commercial construction in various systems
- Valid driver’s license and AZ driver’s license
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a design or construction field (substitutes for two years of general experience)
- Three years of relevant experience (may be concurrent with general experience)
