About the role
A Co-op is a 6–8 month full-time experience where the student takes a semester off from school. As a Project Manager Co-op, you will assist Project Managers with estimating, scheduling, design meetings, buyout, permitting, shop-drawing review, billing, and job-site visits.
Responsibilities
- Estimating: describe project proposals and assign dollar values
- Scheduling: create working timelines for subcontractors/trades to complete the project on time
- Attend design meetings with owners, structural engineers, and architects
- Buyout: send bid instructions, schedules, and drawings to subcontractors; evaluate proposals and award subcontracts
- Permitting: fill out and submit permit forms with drawings and fees to city/county/fire for approval
- Shop Drawing and Submittal Review: receive shop drawings from subcontractors, route to PM, and communicate approval to begin ordering material
- Billing: process subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications
- Job Site Visits: accompany PM to ensure the project is running smoothly
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, or Construction Management Bachelor’s degree program
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
- Previous internship or co-op construction experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong work ethic
