FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $32.49 - $49.66 hourly ($514 minimum starting pay; higher rate may be considered based on qualifications, experience, and City’s step placement policy).

About the Role
This Construction Project Manager position is a full-proficiency, para-professional role within the Project Management Division of the Public Works Department. It involves administration and/or supervision of major engineering project components, including water, storm sewer, paving, building, or sanitary sewer construction.
The City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) currently manages approximately $75 million in design and $112 million in construction projects, ranging from minor repairs to multi-million-dollar initiatives. Construction Project Managers typically oversee 10 to 15 projects annually, depending on size and scope. Projects include new building construction, renovations, and repairs for City departments, State Fair Park, Downtown Arena, Cox Convention Center, Civic Center, Parks, Fire, Police, Libraries, Transit, and Economic Development.
Responsibilities
- Review or coordinate plans, specifications, and construction for projects prepared by the City within an assigned functional area, both in-house and in the field
- Review consultant-prepared plans that may impact the assigned area
- Prepare various documents and reports
- Determine and monitor funding allocations
- Distribute required information to coordinate and facilitate construction
- Supervise technical staff, with work products subject to review by a Civil Engineer or immediate supervisor
Requirements
- Knowledge of standards in the assigned engineering section
- Skill in problem-solving, retaining and recalling information, and project research, design review, and coordination
- Skill in conveying technical information verbally and in writing
- Skill in completing projects within specified timeframes
- Skill in relating to others with tact and diplomacy
- Skill in writing project specifications and developing/administrating purchasing agreements and contracts
- Skill in coordinating project activities with state, federal, and regional agencies
- Skill in establishing goals and objectives and evaluating projects for compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations
- Skill in relating written information to drawn or sketched information and critically reviewing the work of less experienced employees
- Ability to supervise technical personnel and work independently
- Willingness to assume responsibility for decisions made and work performed
- Possession of a valid Driver License (Operator)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in effective project management techniques
- Experience reviewing plans, applying project specifications, cost estimating, and construction schedule management
- Knowledge of building codes
- Experience working with architects, engineers, contractors, City and State code officials, project stakeholders, and municipality leaders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word and Excel)

Additional Information
- This position is designated as safety-sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. Employees may face disciplinary action, including termination, for testing positive for marijuana, even with a medical license.
