About the role
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing the successful execution of a highly secure, technically complex SCIF retrofit project within an active government aircraft manufacturing facility. The role involves achieving the project's scope, schedule, financial, quality, safety, and security requirements.
Primary responsibilities
- Manage CMAR and/or design-build projects involving SCIF retrofit work within an active government aircraft manufacturing facility.
- Plan, direct, and control all phases of the project lifecycle including preconstruction, design coordination, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Cook up close with client representatives, security personnel, IT/security integrators, designers, and field leadership to ensure compliance with secure facility requirements and access controls.
- Prepare baseline performance plans including project budgets, schedules, milestone dates, cash flow projections, and risk registers.
- Manage project financial performance including monthly forecasting, cost tracking, commitment management, and change order control.
- Ensure strict compliance with corporate HSE policies, project-specific safety plans, and client safety requirements, maintaining a zero-tolerance jobsite environment.
- Ensure quality performance by enforcing adherence to contract documents, approved designs, specifications, and commissioning requirements, particularly for MEP, low-voltage, and secure infrastructure systems.
- Manage prequalification, selection, contracting, and oversight of subcontractors and vendors operating in restricted-access and badge-controlled environments.
- Lead proactive risk identification and mitigation related to security constraints, phasing, legacy conditions, constructability, and operational impacts.
- Manage permitting, inspections, and regulatory coordination as required for government and secure facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready project documentation consistent with government and defense contractor standards.
- Manage and mentor project team members and proactively resolve conflicts to support disciplined execution.
- Foster a partnering environment with Owners, inspectors, subcontractors, and design professionals to resolve RFIs, change management, and field issues efficiently.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required.
- A minimum of 8–10 years of construction management experience, with at least 5 years serving as a Project Manager on technically complex projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects for government, defense, or aerospace manufacturing clients.
- Direct experience with SCIF projects or secure/controlled-access facilities is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of retrofit construction, MEP systems, power redundancy, low-voltage systems, and secure IT infrastructure.
- Proficiency in CPM scheduling, earned value management, cost control, budgeting, and project controls.
- Experience managing general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors under strict security and access constraints.
- A Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
