Construction Project Manager
About the role
We are seeking a Construction Project Manager responsible for acquiring new business opportunities and overseeing project execution. The role involves planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating project preparations and executions while ensuring cost efficiency, quality, equipment utilization, and safety objectives are met.
Responsibilities
- Actively pursue and acquire new business by developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Prepare project estimates, budgets, schedules, and assist in project contract negotiations.
- Monitor project adherence through job site meetings, progress reports, performance evaluations, and safety meetings.
- Work closely with architects and engineers to resolve design-related construction issues.
- Keep clients fully informed of project progress and any significant issues.
- Negotiate fee changes and release completed projects to customer satisfaction.
- Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate manpower, equipment, tools, and supplies to achieve project objectives.
- Purchase equipment and standardized materials, and monitor maintenance and safeguarding of these resources.
- Manage administrative aspects of contracts, including change orders, rental equipment, timesheet coding, billing, expenses, and collections.
- Maintain sound union relationships with field employees and local business managers.
- Participate in joint labor management committees and apprenticeship subcommittees.
- Complete job closeout process, resolving punch list items and distributing operating and maintenance manuals.
- Strengthen customer relationships through hosting and participating in company-supported events.
- Attend annual divisional and departmental meetings and social functions.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 3-7 years of construction experience as a Project Manager.
- Experience working as a PM for a mechanical contractor over HVAC work.
- Experience with large commercial, utility plant, or industrial projects.
- Confident personality.
- Experience managing mechanical scopes of work, including industrial, hospital, data center, and large projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, or a related field.
- Experience with project estimating or large-scale projects.
- Experience overseeing mechanical scopes on a $200M+ data center project.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 5-10 years of construction experience, working on-site with various contractors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead and guide teams and supervise field crews.
- Comfortable tracking and maintaining a wide range of project budgets.
Work Environment
This position supports the HVAC Division, specifically for Data Center work. The primary project is the Port Washington Data Center. Depending on the candidate's location, office work can be done from the Wauwatosa office as needed. The work includes mechanical, underground, chillers, HVAC, and other mechanical aspects inside the building. Hours are 40-50 weekly, with five 10-hour days and 8 hours on Saturdays, though Saturday work will eventually decrease.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $57.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
