About the role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join the Facilities Management team at Arizona State University. The Estimator will play a crucial role in assessing project costs, preparing accurate estimates, and supporting the planning and budgeting processes for facilities management initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with operations and project teams to ensure precise and comprehensive cost estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Use estimation software such as RSMeans and Microsoft Excel
  • Develop deferred maintenance projects and scope estimates

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Experience in preparing project scope, sketches, markups, and cost estimates for facility projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all phases of repair, construction, and alteration work performed by skilled trades personnel, including knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, and materials of the construction trades
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards
  • Experience in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings
  • Experience in estimation software such as RSMeans and Microsoft Excel
  • Evidence of a Professional certification in estimating or project management
  • Experience in working on facilities management projects in a higher education institution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial deferred maintenance MEP systems estimating
  • Experience in scheduling entire building projects with multiple phases
  • Experience in developing deferred maintenance projects and scope estimates
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local building codes and regulations
  • Experience with project management skills for coordinating multiple estimates and projects simultaneously
  • Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings

  • Experience in estimating and scheduling projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Benefits

This position is based at ASU’s Tempe campus and will require working from other campuses depending on operational needs. Salary Range: $62,000 - $65,000 per year or commensurate of experience and education.

Schedule

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
