Construction Project Engineer

About the role

RQ Construction is seeking Construction Project Engineer (PE) candidates to join our Field Operations team at Kings Bay Base in Georgia, where we have active building projects for the DoD. PEs provide support across all phases of a commercial construction project—from conceptual development to final completion—by administering, organizing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring processes. On larger projects, certain project management functions may be delegated to the PE.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in planning, organizing, and controlling project activities
• Coordinate and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and material deliveries
• Maintain and update project schedules, budgets, and documentation
• Participate in pre-construction planning, design review, and constructability analysis
• Review drawings and specifications for compliance and coordination
• Assist in preparing and tracking subcontractor scopes of work and purchase orders
• Conduct field inspections to verify quality, safety, and progress
• Facilitate communication between project team, client, subcontractors, and design team
• Maintain meeting minutes, daily logs, and project correspondence

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in commercial construction as a project engineer or similar role
• Experience with DoD or federal construction projects preferred
• Working knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, and safety regulations
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project)
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance for access to Kings Bay Naval Base
