About the role

The Construction Project Engineer supports the execution of assigned projects and ensures the project's technical scope, schedule, and financial requirements and metrics are met. Key responsibilities include managing job controls, providing technical support, preparing logs and reports, monitoring subcontractor progress, responding to RFIs, reviewing subcontractor plans, assisting with project planning, and leading safety and quality programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage job controls to ensure compliance with technical requirements, contracts, budget, schedule, and BIM coordination.
  • Provide technical support in construction planning, quality control, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, and conduct constructability reviews.
  • Prepare daily logs, project technical design submittals, necessary reports, and document inspection and testing results.
  • Maintain compliance with technical and contract requirements for craft and trade subcontractors.
  • Respond to subcontractor RFI’s by reviewing and coordinating with the engineer of record.
  • Review construction subcontractor’s implementation plans, including project management, procurement, safety, quality, and general means and methods to identify risks.
  • Aid in project planning, establishing cost and schedule baselines, and managing cash flow.
  • Aid in subcontracting strategy, estimating, buyouts, and change management actions.
  • Aid in creating and managing the project risk register to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Manage project master schedule planning and implement daily activities, supporting three-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Secure necessary permits, environmental approvals, and licenses.
  • Lead a strong safety and quality program on the project.
  • Lead the commissioning, closeout, and turnover process.

Requirements

  • BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Procore or similar management software.
  • Experience with Quality.
  • TAKT planning experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with clients.
  • Technical and application knowledge of the built environment infrastructure, including buildings and infrastructure.
  • Experience in the construction industry.
  • Understanding of project estimating and scheduling techniques.

Qualifications

  • Ability to navigate and move around the construction site, including walking, climbing, and standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to handle tools, equipment, and perform tasks requiring coordination and manual skills.
  • Manual dexterity, hearing, mental acuity, typing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand and sit for periods longer than 30 minutes but not to exceed two hours consecutively.
  • Ability to print and draw letters, numbers, words, characters, and symbols that are legible and understandable by others.
  • Ability to learn complex tasks and remember how to complete tasks without assistance once trained.
  • Quick thinking and decision-making ability to address issues and challenges.
  • Endurance to work in various weather conditions and handle the physical demands of supervising a construction project.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and the ability to enforce safety standards.
  • Adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements when on the construction site, such as hard hats, safety vests, and steel-toed boots.
