About the role

The HDR Arlington office is seeking a Construction Project Architect to join our team in Bethesda, MD. This position requires a strong background in field representation during construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in resolving problems from minor to major scope and complexity
  • Aid in Quality Assurance and Control reviews of scheduled milestone packages, focusing on constructability, coordination, and value engineering
  • Represent the architectural engineering team during construction projects
  • Negotiate, interpret documents, and collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and project representatives
  • Conduct meetings and project observations to assess progress and ensure compliance with contract documents
  • Coordinate and assist with clarifying and enforcing construction documents, including processing contractor requests for information
  • Obtain, process, document, and maintain relevant project records, such as claims, change proposals, change orders, request for information, correspondence, payment applications, contract documents, and other related documentation
  • Perform QA/QC reviews and demonstrate knowledge in performing these tasks
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with field representation positions during construction
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience with field representation positions during construction, strongly preferred
  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Strong team and leadership skills, and excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Strong knowledge of local and state codes of Maryland, IBC, UFC, FGI, and other applicable federal and industry standard guidelines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in Healthcare-related projects and experience on Federal/DOD projects
  • Preference given to local candidates

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Registered Architect
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and processes
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
  • Experience in preparing and laying out architectural contract documents and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills

Skills

Preferred qualifications include healthcare experience and negotiation, interpretation, and document handling skills. Strong knowledge of Autodesk Revit and related tools is required.

Compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience. Details will be provided upon interview.
