About the Role
Construction & Maintenance Plant duties include all aspects of plant construction, plant repair, and plant maintenance including but not limited to steel fabrication, welding, cutting with a torch, and steel erection. The position requires a working knowledge of electrical and plumbing practices as related to field construction. Travel to other facilities and overnight travel will be required. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aggregate production processes, as well as experience in operating and maintaining heavy machinery.
Essential Functions
- Knowledge and experience of plant construction, plant repair, and plant maintenance including but not limited to steel fabrication, welding, cutting with a torch, steel erection, electrical, and plumbing practices
- Provides assistance in equipment inspections and identifies conditions (wear, alignment, function, etc.) and monitors performance as directed
- Reports plant and/or equipment conditions to appropriate personnel as required
- Assists plant and/or shop personnel with repair and maintenance
- Performs duties safely, responsibly and proficiently
- Must be willing to work any shift and overtime as required
- Excellent print reading and layout skills preferred
- Repairs, replaces, disassemble and/or reassemble all plant processing equipment
- Fabricates and erect steel structures
- Provides a wide variety of welding and construction services
- Maintains shop and processing equipment
- Assists and trains other technical level employees
- Must be able to work required overtime and flexible work schedule
- Assists plant and/or shop personnel with repair and maintenance as required and/or maintenance personnel in performing repairs on stationary equipment such as crushers, conveyors, vibrators, screens, speed reducers, feeders, air compressors, etc.
- Will work outdoors and exposed to varying and/or extreme weather conditions (i.e., heat, wet, cold, etc.)
- Will be required to work in high and/or precarious places or cramped work space that requires getting into difficult place
- Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as, bend and lift

Qualifications
High school diploma or its equivalent required. Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field is preferred.
Experience
- Skilled Construction experience preferred
- 3 years prior experience in aggregate maintenance, mechanical, millwright, or fabricating skills preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to or the ability to learn to read and interpret blueprints
- Experience welding and cutting with a torch
- Operate and maintain aggregate crushing and screening equipment
- Knowledge of steel fabrication and erection
- Excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Basic electrical and plumbing skills
- Sufficient skill levels to recognize non-routine equipment condition problems, understand instructions and duties and report on equipment condition
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Other Requirements
- Frequently works near moving, mechanical parts, and vehicular traffic
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours and weekends as needed
- Travel required
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report in order to operate company over the road vehicles
