Responsibilities
- Travel to construction sites to inspect contractor's work
- Perform basic field soil and concrete tests under supervision
- Input field reports and test results on smart phones/tablets for immediate review by Project Managers
- Prepare detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and observations
- Conduct basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of results
- Evaluate site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 12+ months of relevant experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some construction experience is required, with prior field testing experience preferred
- Maintain ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, or ICC certifications in soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, make recommendations, and perform calculations for field and laboratory tests and equipment
- Multi-task and meet deadlines
- Work independently and within cross-functional teams to achieve goals
- Have excellent attention to details
- Hold a valid driver’s license and have a good-standing driving record
- Be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening, which includes a background investigation, drug screening, and driving record check
- Be able to stand and walk throughout the day, lift/carry/push/pull up to 70 lbs. on a regular basis, work in environments containing dust and fumes, and drive to and from work sites
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and good-standing driving record
