Responsibilities
- Travel to construction sites to inspect contractor's work
- Perform basic field soil and concrete tests under the direction of other F&R technicians or engineering professionals
- Input all inspection/observations and test data on smart phones/tablets in the field for immediate transmittal to Project Managers for review
- Prepare detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations
- Perform basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of results
- Evaluate site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and provide recommendations
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 12+ months of relevant experience
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Some construction experience is required. Prior experience in Field testing is preferred
- Maintain ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, or ICC certifications in the disciplines of soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, make recommendations in the field and to perform calculations for field and laboratory tests and equipment
- Multi-task and meet deadlines
- Work independently and within cross-functional teams to achieve goals
- Excellent attention to details
- Valid driver’s license and good-standing driving record
- Willingness to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
- Continuous standing and walking throughout the day
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 lbs. on a regular basis
- Work outside in frequent changes of temperatures
- Bend, squat, kneel, climb, push, and pull
- Work in environments containing dust and fumes
- Drive to and from work sites, must have valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record

Skills
- Field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry and concrete
- Preparation of detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations provided

- Evaluation of site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and provision of recommendations
- Communication with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues
