Responsibilities
- Travel to construction sites to inspect contractor work
- Perform basic field soil and concrete tests under supervision
- Input inspection/observation and test data on smart phones/tablets for immediate review by Project Managers
- Prepare detailed field reports with test results and observations
- Conduct laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of results
- Evaluate site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering/technician staff regarding construction issues
Requirements
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Prior construction or field testing experience preferred
- ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, WACEL, or ICC certifications in soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry (optional)
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Problem-solving skills to handle a variety of variables
- Writing routine reports and correspondence
- Basic mathematical skills for calculations
- Physical ability to walk and stand continuously, lift/carry up to 70 pounds, and operate a vehicle
- Valid, clean driver’s license required, with a safe driving record
