Responsibilities

  • Travel to construction sites to inspect contractor work
  • Perform basic field soil and concrete tests under supervision
  • Input inspection/observation and test data on smart phones/tablets for immediate review by Project Managers
  • Prepare detailed field reports with test results and observations
  • Conduct laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of results
  • Evaluate site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering/technician staff regarding construction issues

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Prior construction or field testing experience preferred
  • ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, WACEL, or ICC certifications in soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry (optional)
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Problem-solving skills to handle a variety of variables
  • Writing routine reports and correspondence
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculations
  • Physical ability to walk and stand continuously, lift/carry up to 70 pounds, and operate a vehicle
  • Valid, clean driver’s license required, with a safe driving record
