Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Manager

Responsibilities

• Train and supervise entry-level technicians for laboratory moisture-density relationships and soil classification as they relate to field applications
• Ensure accuracy of borings logs from field based on visual classification
• Conduct moisture-density tests, sieve analysis (with or without hydrometers), limits testing, direct shear, unconstrained compression, California Bearing Ratio (CBR), permeability, and consolidation tests in the laboratory
• Perform compressive strength testing on concrete cylinders from field
• Calibrate and verify field-testing equipment; maintain third-party calibration reports for laboratory equipment
• Ensure all paperwork complies with the laboratory quality assurance manual
• Compute, graph, and process laboratory data
• Keep Quality Assurance manual updated to meet AMRL, CCRL, and WACEL standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory
• Enter lab units and billing information weekly

  Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of Lab Manager and construction materials testing experience
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • WACEL, NICET, ACI certifications for field and lab
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and peers both verbally and in writing
