Construction Manager Travel required

Responsible for the execution, overall administrative and technical direction of a construction project, including implementation and adherence to all Safety and Quality policies and procedures. Leads the development and implementation of craft work packaging and is responsible for the comprehensive implementation, coordination, and execution of all subcontracts for the construction of a facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation/interpretation of safety programs.
  • Oversee total construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide direction to planning constructability, building work packages, and scheduling efforts.
  • Plan, coordinate, and/or supervise construction activities of all superintendents on assigned projects.
  • Interact with customers and provide leadership to site teams, efficiently coordinating subcontractors.
  • Authorize/approve project personnel transactions including hiring, transfers, training, and wages through effective management of project superintendents.
  • Interface with Project Manager, Engineering staff, Subcontractors, and client representatives (including 3rd party inspections) to ensure adherence to all company, client, and project policies and procedures.
  • Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
  • Follow oral and written directions and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Construction.
  • Work within company policy as outlined in the Samuel EPC Exempt Employee Handbook, compliant with the Samuel EPC Human Resources Policy Manual, and with the Samuel EPC Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial projects such as refineries, petro-chemical complexes, or power plants.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage employees, budgets, and construction schedules.
  • Knowledgeable of current construction technology such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF modification programs like Bluebeam or Adobe.
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Familiar with construction methods, techniques, and labor requirements as they apply to industrial construction projects.
  • Previous hands-on Project Superintendent experience.
  • Ability to work with others to develop a team atmosphere and achieve job goals.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, or manipulate objects.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects while carrying tools and equipment.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • See well (naturally or with correction) and have good eye-hand coordination.
  • Good physical fitness and sense of balance.
  • Work at great heights.

Pay

  • Salary rate is determined per project and remains fixed regardless of hours worked.
  • Assignment to Home Office work will have a different pay rate than field assignments.
  • Per Diem included in pay and determined on a project-by-project basis.
  • Bonus options available based on exceeding profit margins for projects.

Schedule

Varies by location. Must have open availability any time, any day of the week.

  • Trips home and a company truck provided when applicable.

Environment

Works out of a field office at the construction site or occasionally out of the main office. Monitors all phases of execution of the construction project. May require travel and temporary residence away from primary residence. Expected to deal with delays, effects of bad weather, or emergencies at the site. Although the work is not inherently dangerous, must exercise caution while performing onsite services.
