Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the construction division and align operational goals with company objectives.
- Lead project management teams and oversee field operations to ensure successful project delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across construction processes, quality control, and operational performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and trade partners.
- Oversee integration between Detailing, Fabrication, and Erection teams to ensure seamless communication and execution.
- Collaborate closely with the Technical Innovation Lead and Fabrication Operations Manager to align digital models, fabrication readiness, and field installation sequencing.
- Own and optimize Evolve Steel's "Model-to-Field" delivery process.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to schedule adherence, customer satisfaction, milestone achievement, rework reduction, safety, and profitability.
- Present department performance metrics and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Team Development & Management
- Mentor, coach, and develop project managers, detailers, and construction personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify growth and advancement opportunities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and professional development.
- Build organizational leadership depth through succession planning and talent development.
Project Oversight
- Direct planning, scheduling, execution, and closeout of structural steel projects including structural frameworks, joists, decking systems, and complex steel assemblies.
- Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams to identify constructability opportunities, connection efficiencies, and value engineering solutions.
- Provide expertise on erection methodologies, crane planning, logistics, and sequencing strategies.
- Review design models, shop drawings, and submittals to ensure field feasibility and minimize RFIs.
- Ensure compliance with engineering requirements, project specifications, contracts, and safety standards.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, labor productivity, and overall financial performance.
- Resolve project challenges related to safety, scheduling, engineering, quality, and resource allocation.
- Monitor workforce utilization and proactively balance workloads to maximize efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of progressive construction management experience. Minimum 5 years of leadership experience within the structural steel industry. Proven success managing large-scale commercial, industrial, or infrastructure steel projects.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection practices. Strong understanding of structural systems, welding procedures, bolting requirements, and steel construction methodologies. Comprehensive knowledge of construction codes, industry standards, and safety regulations. Proficiency with construction management and design software including: Procore, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, BIM platforms and related technologies.
- Leadership Competencies: Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities. Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary teams. Excellent organizational, planning, and financial management capabilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
