About the role
We are seeking a Construction Manager/Resident Engineer to join our team in the Northern CA Bay Area. This role involves taking responsibility for subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and quality control for substation facilities within rail transit systems. You will also develop procedures for executing these activities and implement them in collaboration with the construction management/project team.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and quality control relating to substation facilities within rail transit systems in the Northern CA Bay Area.
- Develop procedures for executing such activities, and implement procedures in coordination with the construction management/project team.
- Perform additional construction management activities, including developing procurement-construction schedules, construction subcontract scopes, reviewing subcontract terms and conditions, performing constructability and value engineering reviews, construction estimating, and schedule reviews.
- Administer and manage construction activities.
- Maintain oversight of the overall design as related to construction requirements.
- Conduct value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Coordinate local bidding efforts for quotes obtained in the field.
- Aid in procurement of purchase orders and subcontract packages.
- Coordinate, expedite, and review construction submittals.
- Control the project budget and schedule.
- Manage project quality assurance and control, and inspection services.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with the Health and Safety Program through communication and inspections.
- Prepare and update project schedules, pay requests, and daily, weekly, and monthly progress, budget, and schedule management reports.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform project setup and temporary facilities.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- A minimum of 15 years of experience preferred in various aspects of construction planning and management, including but not limited to estimating, bidding, preparing and administering purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, cost control, etc.
- Construction or design certifications, PMP, and/or CCM. PE licensure desired but not required.
- Prior rail transit agency or related experience.
- Prior experience on projects involving communication/electrical systems installation and integration.
- Experience with estimating software (Timberline), scheduling software (Primavera P3 or SureTrak), and project management software (Prolog).
- Strong people skills and the ability to interact with the Owner, Engineer, Contractor and other project stakeholders.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $140,788.00 - $201,125.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
