About the Role

Construction Manager with public agency CM experience in water, wastewater or public infrastructure-related projects is needed to assist with project responsibilities in our firm's growing construction management practice. This position also plays a key role in recruiting, developing, and leading construction management staff while supporting the growth of West Yost's construction management practice throughout the East Bay.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining client contact before, during, and after project completion, with an emphasis on supporting West Yost's East Bay practice.
  • Cultivating relationships with East Bay municipal agencies and industry organizations to support long-term client service and regional practice growth.
  • Conducting business development and client engagement in pursuit of identifying and winning work in the East Bay.
  • Identifying key pursuits and developing proposals and budgets for CM related projects.
  • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications; preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Using MS Word, Excel, Project, Adobe, and construction documentation software such as Procore.
  • Leading project meetings, preparing meeting agendas, and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Reviewing contractor monthly pay requests and confirming quantity & pricing is correct.
  • Analyzing and negotiating potential change orders, dispute resolution, and claims mitigation.
  • Communicating effectively with contractors, city and agency staff, engineers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Managing a project team including resident inspectors, CM administrative support, and subconsultants.
  • Assisting with marketing or business development efforts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in civil construction project oversight as part of a civil engineering or construction firm with a focus on water or wastewater.
  • Required experience includes treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, and/or concrete or steel water storage tanks.
  • Excellent attendance and ability to be fully mobile on the job site.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, mentoring, and developing construction management professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of construction management professionals.
  • Ability to climb ladders, reach, stoop, and kneel.
  • Valid CA Driver's License.
  • Travel to client offices and project sites required.

Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with municipal agencies, clients, and industry partners throughout the East Bay is strongly preferred.
  • College degree preferred, but not required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification in California preferred, but not required.

Skills

  • Strong technical water-related civil engineering or construction management education and knowledge.
  • Proactive organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills including the ability to quickly develop working relationships internally within the firm and externally with clients and teaming partners.

Compensation

$130,525 - $198,785. Based on East Bay CA region (including San Ramon, Livermore, Concord, Fairfield, and Vacaville). West Yost uses geographic salary differentials that would apply for candidates in other regions.

Schedule

Full-time, Exempt. This role will require a physical presence at the client project site 4 – 5 days a week. We offer hybrid and flexible work schedules to our employees to help promote and encourage a healthy work/life balance.
