Construction Manager - Civil
About the role
Tetra Tech is seeking a Construction Manager to join our Power team. This role involves overseeing construction projects, ensuring compliance with design and quality standards, and acting as an Owner’s Representative for key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Ensure contractors fully understand their contractual obligations and project requirements.
- Liaise with contractors to minimize conflict and encourage synergy on multiple contractor work sites.
- Identify slow progress, inadequate quality or performance, and suggest solutions to potential construction problems.
- Monitor project schedule and costs, update and report as project development proceeds, and address issues proactively.
- Confirm monthly contract progress payment documents, forecast and manage potential changes.
- Monitor and inspect construction to confirm quality and conformance with design.
- Review and manage technical submittals (shop drawings, RFIs, RFCs, and work plans) for design and quality compliance.
- Coordinate and communicate with offsite Project Management and Engineering teams to address issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Document progress through detailed daily and weekly reports, including photos.
- Monitor the receipt and inspection of major equipment/materials to ensure compliance with technical and commercial terms.
- Act as an Owner’s Representative for day-to-day and week-to-week interface with regulatory agencies, government entities, and landowners.
- Serve as an onsite Engineering representative for EPC partners.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience.
- Experience working on multiple civil infrastructure projects, preferably in the power industry (energy sector).
- Experience with MV, Substations, and T&D is preferred.
- Experience with large-scale multidisciplinary projects is an asset.
- Experience with large foundations, steel structures, and piles is an asset.
- Engineer or appropriately recognized technical designation is considered an asset.
- Availability to work on rotation or away from home regularly.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for at least 50% of the workday.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, including continuous operation of computers and office equipment.
- Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and negligible force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to safely walk two to three miles in a few hours around a site, and climb stairs and ladders to access roofs, basements, and mechanical rooms.
- Daily travel to project sites with limited exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Travel may include air travel, requiring extended periods of sitting.

Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $65.00 to $85.00 per hour. Project per diems or allowances vary based on location and work schedule, aligned with posted GSA rates.
Schedule
This role requires flexibility to work 50–72 hours per week, including overtime and occasional weekends or extended shifts.
