Construction Manager - Aviation

About the role

The Construction Manager will manage the scope, cost, schedule, and operational interfaces of all design and construction activities for the program. The role focuses on schedule certainty, budget delivery, and ensuring construction work meets required quality standards while enforcing a strong health, safety, and environmental culture. Responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of design, construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover plans, as well as coordinating with stakeholders and adhering to LAWA standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor all on-site field construction activities associated with project completion.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines used during construction, including installation methods and techniques.
• Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans, Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs), and proper notifications.
• Become thoroughly familiar with contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erected.
• Ensure all work is performed and inspected according to the latest plans, specifications, approved changes, submittals, and RFIs.
• Work with the Construction Contractor and stakeholders to develop overall construction planning, identifying critical milestones and priorities.
• Monitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
• Oversee the assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and meet budget goals.
• Identify potential problem areas and take preventative action to ensure critical milestones are met.
• Ensure the use of sound and safe construction practices to attain required quality control at maximum efficiency and minimum cost.
• Prepare periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for higher-level management and clients.
• Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including project labor agreement policies.
• Contribute to the advancement of TDG’s goals through productive collaboration with all stakeholders.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as needed.
• Participate in coordination meetings with the Construction Contractor, trade partners, stakeholders, LAWA Operations, etc.
• Review Contractor Potential Change Order Claims for merit and negotiate to final resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other related technical field (required).
• Master's degree (preferred).
• 10 or more years of Construction Management experience.
• Experience with projects valued at more than $100M.
• Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, or other relevant professional licensure.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and verbal interactions.

Pay

$160,000 to $170,000 per year (depending on qualifications).
