Position Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing fiber and telecommunications construction projects from planning through completion. This role manages field operations, construction supervisors, subcontractors, and multiple crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service when interfacing with clients and addressing escalated issues.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of multiple field crews and job sites.
• Manage construction projects from start to completion while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Schedule crews, assign work, and monitor project progress against deadlines.
• Supervise construction supervisors and ensure work quality and production targets are met.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices while maintaining a strong safety culture.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, maps, blueprints, contracts, specifications, and bid documents.
• Identify and resolve design or blueprint issues prior to and during construction.
• Oversee subcontractor work, maintain subcontractor relationships, and ensure contractual compliance.
• Participate in project estimating, bidding, contract negotiations, and change order preparation.
• Report daily production and project updates to senior management.
• Participate in operational meetings with leadership, peers, and clients.
• Absorb occasional travel and weekend work hours.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Demonstrated knowledge of telecommunications construction industry standards.
• Strong understanding of underground fiber construction, including directional drilling, conduit installation, and cable placement.
• Experience with fiber splicing, coax splicing, and telecom network construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret telecom design maps, prints, and engineering drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in field construction environments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, crews, and subcontractors simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project) and the ability to learn project management or custom telecom software.
• Strong attention to detail while maintaining productivity and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, ideally in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience managing telecommunications or fiber construction projects.
• Previous experience managing field operations and maintaining positive relationships with clients and suppliers.
• Strong understanding of underground telecom construction and fiber network deployment.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
