Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the engineering/construction design review process including equipment evaluation, tests, and approvals
- Provide technical solutions to complex problems requiring the use of ingenuity and creativity
- Provide guidance to junior staff as needed to complete their assigned projects
- Independently troubleshoot unprecedented and often complex issues with authority to implement changes as deemed appropriate
- Create cost estimates, budgets, and the construction timetable and develop the construction strategy
- Cookordinate and collaborate with architects, engineers, and specialists
- Ensure the construction project complies with all building codes and any other legal or regulatory requirements
- Escalate issues and viable solutions that are not quickly or reasonably solved within budget or timelines established
- Review and approve cost estimates, support the check and balance system
- Responsible for multiple large contracts at one time and keeping other team members on track related to their assigned portions of the project
- Develop, review, and approve operating policies and procedures that affect assigned projects
- Test and modify policies and procedures
- Actively contribute to IPS’s knowledge of national and international standard committees (VDI, ISO, ISPE) to represent biopharmaceutical interests and progress
- Responsible for reviewing and approving project-related documents, construction plans, risks and other materials
- Redlining and correcting potential issues prior to execution
- Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members as needed to ensure continual learning and achieved right first time
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Chemical, Mechanical, or Biopharmaceutical Engineering, or closely related field is a must; Master’s degree helpful but not required
- Minimum of 6 years professional engineering experience within the Life Sciences industry or closely related discipline, preferably in a biopharmaceutical environment
- Minimum of 2 years project and/or people management including setting schedules, providing feedback, and coaching and adherence to budgets and timelines
- Solid understanding of construction design, technical equipment, and quality systems
- Solid understanding of facility technology
- Demonstrated experience leading small teams or projects required
- Acclimes and adapts to business acumen quickly and is able to think strategically as demonstrated through prior experience
- Organized and capable of managing tasks on multiple, concurrent projects
- Strong communication skills. Candidate should demonstrate well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to establish highly functional relationships with diverse personalities, both within and outside the company.

- Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Performance-focused, persistent, decision-making, open-minded, innovative/creative and target-oriented
- Possesses intermediate level of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel skills
- MS Project experience strongly preferred
- Must be able to read and see clearly; vision clarity with or without correction to read handwritten as well as computer generated documents
