About the Role
Hargrove is seeking an enthusiastic Construction Manager to join our expanding team for a project with our client in Mojave, CA. This role is ideal for someone who has settled into their career and is eager to gain more exposure. The position is located in the Mojave Desert area and offers limited per diem. Local Southern California candidates are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensure total delivery of services safely, on time, within the performance budget, and meeting quality expectations on moderately complex projects.
- Utilize project controls for cost, schedule, and quality of projects.
- Ensure contractor’s activities are planned and executed with safety as the top priority.
- Consult with design leaders to ensure efficient progress and quality of technical contractual activities.
- Promote continued relationships with clients.
- Participate in field construction efforts, design phase services, and all subcontracting, as well as major technical, cost, scheduling, and performance decisions.
- Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly.
- Provide on-site assistance during startup.
- Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.
- Review and check vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for input.
- Review construction specifications and fabrication drawings for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Monitor contractor resource assignments to ensure the correct numbers of resources are assigned to the work.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of Construction Management experience with industrial clients.
- Degree in Construction Management or CM certification required.
- Extensive knowledge of construction safety requirements and a commitment to a zero-accidents environment.
- Ability to lead a small team and deliver on commitments.
- Knowledge of Hargrove project execution procedures and company business standards.
- Proficiency in complex project management and understanding of engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
- Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations and handle stress with poise.
- Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
- Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs, and hard hat.

Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science, or related field highly preferred.
- General Contractors License highly preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industrial construction management or project-related experience.
